Hi! I'm Miss Suga.

I discovered my passion for baking back in sixth grade. My English class hosted a party potluck and I decided to bring in cupcakes. I’ll never forget the endless loving responses that my classmates showered me with.

From that day forward, my chosen elective was always culinary. You couldn’t keep me out of the kitchen! All I could think about was becoming a pastry chef. I remember the exact moment that my passion became a real goal. Mr. Roach’s business class, eighth grade. I was given the task to create a real business layout and it was then, that 12 year old me was brainstorming & came across the name, SugarSnaps. I merged my two favorite things: I knew sweets were my passion (Sugar) and I have always used poetry as an outlet to express myself (Snaps). I still have the first business card I ever made.

Moving forward, I tried a lot of things - pursued many talents and options, but baking always stayed with me.

I became a certified chef by the state of Maryland at age 16, and served on many culinary boards. I graduated high school in 2016 and then went on to obtain a culinary degree from Delaware Tech (2018), where I studied abroad in Italy, with some of the most amazing chefs. These experiences were nothing short of amazing. However, though all the knife cuts and roasting techniques I learned are great life lessons for holiday dinners, the real fun to me was in my cake decorating class. It’s so crazy because I remember hating decorating cakes! In fact, up until months after the class, I despised even the thought.

Then, one day in late November 2018, I was in Sprint hanging out and (I have no clue why, but) I told the salesman that I make cakes. To my amazement, he believed me. I had nothing to show him, no portfolio - no proof, but still he invested in me and SugarSnaps was brought to life.

It wasn’t immediately that I began to take this seriously, as I thought how will I ever work full time, while being a full time student and run a side business that is so demanding? But, God.

Every time I tried to put SugarSnaps to the side, more ideas flowed and more opportunities came about. Now, everyday, I’m in disbelief that my sixth grade passion, grew into my eighth grade dream and is slowly coming into full fruition. There is nothing like standing in your purpose. I am humbled to say this is only the beginning.
